BCA Foundations

The journey to Bergen County Academies starts here.

Our 8-week BCA Foundations program is led by current BCA students who know the process firsthand. Designed for rising 7th graders, it builds foundational skills while giving students an early head start on BCA-level content. Instead of handing every student the same packet, we start with your child's actual strengths and scores, use targeted work on our own platform, and adjust the plan every two weeks — because BCA preparation is personal, and it should be too.

Why now

7th grade is when the foundation gets built.

The BCA exam and essays reward students who've had real time to develop the underlying skills — not a rushed review the month before. Starting in 7th grade gives your child that runway.

01

Proficiency needs time

Reading, reasoning, and writing skills compound. A student who starts a year out walks into exam day with real command of the material — not a rushed review.

02

Strong essays aren't last-minute

The essay rewards genuine voice and clear thinking, and both take practice to develop. Starting early means there's time to actually get good at it, not just polish a draft the week before.

03

Critical thinking is built, not crammed

The exam tests how a student thinks, not just what they've memorized. That kind of thinking develops gradually, through consistent practice over months — exactly what starting now gives them.

Recommended

EDforED BCA Foundations

  • Led by top high school students who've gone through the BCA process themselves
  • Small classes of 8, so the plan actually bends to each student
  • Progress you can see between sessions, not just at the end
  • Real quality — at a fraction of the price

Traditional prep centres

  • Adult instructors without direct BCA experience
  • Large classes of 20–30, moving at one fixed pace
  • A fixed curriculum that doesn't adjust to the student
  • Unnecessarily expensive — $5,000–$6,000

Programme structure

Eight weeks, four phases.

Two weeks per phase, one subject at a time. Each phase ends with a checkpoint that decides what the next one looks like.
